Loco Mag is a lifestyle/culture magazine based in northwest Philadelphia. At Loco, we aim to showcase the ideas, voices, and talents of college students in the Philadelphia region. We focus on culture and lifestyle relevant to college students, and emphasize this perspective in our tone and content.  In other words, this isn’t a news publication. We cover a broad range of subjects, including the arts, off-campus social events, entertainment, travel, and political news--but we are in the business of telling stories, not just filling pages. Our main goal is to publish a magazine that will not only work to connect readers to one another, but with the world around us. We want to learn your stories and hear your opinions, whether that is through writing or photo journalism- we want to broadcast you.  Loco is completely independent and we pride ourselves on showcasing writer’s honest, unfiltered voices. We are uncensored and independent, and open to hearing fresh perspectives.
Ends on April 14, 2017

Time flies when you’re publishing a magazine, as the old proverb goes, and we just looked up and realized that we’ve been at this for five years. Our first issue, “Philly,” was published in March of 2012. I know that seems kind of like yesterday, but it was 29 issues ago. And I’m proud to introduce the theme of our THIRTIETH issue. Introduce a drumroll here…

Through the Years!

If you’d like to be part of our 30th issue, we would love to have you! We’re expecting it to be bigger and better than ever, so if you’re a college age writer, photographer, videographer, designer, or interviewer, please consider contributing! Loco is a lifestyle and culture magazine always on the hunt for new articles, photospreads, and fresh takes on student perspectives. We’re not strictly a news publication. We want to hear your voice and read your stories.

Our sections include Travel, Lifestyle, Photo/Video, Entertainment, and Features. Features typically run around 1,500 words. Have more than that? Cool! If not, no worries. We’re an electronic publication so space is unlimited. We’ll accept anything from a 250 word photospread to a 500 word interview to an hour long podcast to a 2-minute video. There’s only one rule: you must be creative.

Your work will need to be submitted no later than April 10, 2017.
