Loco Mag is a lifestyle/culture magazine based in northwest Philadelphia. At Loco, we aim to showcase the ideas, voices, and talents of college students in the Philadelphia region. We focus on culture and lifestyle relevant to college students, and emphasize this perspective in our tone and content.  In other words, this isn’t a news publication. We cover a broad range of subjects, including the arts, off-campus social events, entertainment, travel, and political news--but we are in the business of telling stories, not just filling pages. Our main goal is to publish a magazine that will not only work to connect readers to one another, but with the world around us. We want to learn your stories and hear your opinions, whether that is through writing or photo journalism- we want to broadcast you.  Loco is completely independent and we pride ourselves on showcasing writer’s honest, unfiltered voices. We are uncensored and independent, and open to hearing fresh perspectives.

Loco Mag is seeking college age writers, photographers, videographers, designers, and interviewers to contribute to our latest issue! Loco is a lifestyle and culture magazine always on the hunt for new articles, photospreads, and fresh takes on student perspectives. We’re not strictly a news publication. We want to hear your voice and read your stories.

Our upcoming issue will be called Toil & Trouble. For a lot of us, September feels like the start of the new year, accompanied by all of the feelings of existential dread and horror that brings. On the bright side: Halloween. What do you, or someone else work your hardest at (besides, of course, your Loco Mag article)? What’s been troubling you? Whether you’re a Hamlet scholar, autumn fanatic, or just a person looking to give some advice and perspective – interpret the prompt as loosely as you’d like. Tell us the story in your head.

Our sections include Features, Travel, Lifestyle, Entertainment, and the A/V Room (podcasts, videos, etc). Features typically run around 1,500 words. Have more than that? Cool! If not, no worries. We’re an electronic publication so space is unlimited. We’ll accept anything from a 250 word photospread to a 500 word interview to an hour long podcast to a 2-minute video. There’s only one rule: be creative.

Our own toil and trouble this month involves a new publication schedule. For you, that means there will be three opportunities to submit work for this theme.
