Loco Mag is a lifestyle/culture magazine based in northwest Philadelphia. At Loco, we aim to showcase the ideas, voices, and talents of college students in the Philadelphia region. We focus on culture and lifestyle relevant to college students, and emphasize this perspective in our tone and content.  In other words, this isn’t a news publication. We cover a broad range of subjects, including the arts, off-campus social events, entertainment, travel, and political news--but we are in the business of telling stories, not just filling pages. Our main goal is to publish a magazine that will not only work to connect readers to one another, but with the world around us. We want to learn your stories and hear your opinions, whether that is through writing or photo journalism- we want to broadcast you.  Loco is completely independent and we pride ourselves on showcasing writer’s honest, unfiltered voices. We are uncensored and independent, and open to hearing fresh perspectives.
Ends on October 7, 2016

Loco Mag is seeking talented writers, photographers, videographers, designers, and interviewers to contribute to our latest issue! Loco is a lifestyle and culture magazine always on the hunt for new articles, photospreads, and fresh takes on student perspectives. We’re not strictly a news publication. We want to hear your voice and read your stories.

Our theme for our newest issue is Literally Obsessed. Are you “literally obsessed” with something? Beyonce? Game of Thrones? Pokemon Go? Philosopher and author of the Communist Manifesto Karl Marx? Cool, us too! And we want to hear about it.

You can interpret the prompt as rigidly or loosely as you want. Obsessed to you could be a very literal and serious word – tell us why! Alternatively, you could find Brony culture/obsession fascinating and want to do an in-depth analysis of why the world is so creepy these days. You’re totally free to do what you want, and the more creative the interpretation, the better.

Our sections include Travel, Lifestyle, Lists, Photo/Video, Entertainment, Health, and Features. Features typically run around 1,500 words. Have more than that? Cool! If not, no worries. We’re an electronic publication so space is unlimited. We’ll accept anything from a 250 word photospread to a 500 word interview. Just make sure to have a strong voice and be creative.

Your final article will need to be submitted no later than October 3, 2016. You can find where to pitch your idea under the “Submissions” tab on the Loco Mag homepage.
