Loco Mag is a lifestyle/culture magazine based in northwest Philadelphia. At Loco, we aim to showcase the ideas, voices, and talents of college students in the Philadelphia region. We focus on culture and lifestyle relevant to college students, and emphasize this perspective in our tone and content.  In other words, this isn’t a news publication. We cover a broad range of subjects, including the arts, off-campus social events, entertainment, travel, and political news--but we are in the business of telling stories, not just filling pages. Our main goal is to publish a magazine that will not only work to connect readers to one another, but with the world around us. We want to learn your stories and hear your opinions, whether that is through writing or photo journalism- we want to broadcast you.  Loco is completely independent and we pride ourselves on showcasing writer’s honest, unfiltered voices. We are uncensored and independent, and open to hearing fresh perspectives.

Loco Mag is seeking college-aged writers, photographers, videographers, designers, and interviewers to contribute to our latest issue! Loco is a lifestyle and culture magazine always on the hunt for new articles, photospreads, and fresh takes from student perspectives. We’re not strictly a news publication. We want to hear your voice and read your stories.

We’re calling our next issue Slobber Knocker, a phrase made famous by Jim Ross in WWE. That was a real slobber knocker! It basically means something big has happened. Send us your op-eds on big issues, like immigration or health care. Or take the words more literally. Slobbery dogs. Drooling babies. Awkward first kisses. Maybe your bank account took a punch, your homemade brownies were a hit, or you put together a list of lighthearted jabs. Whatever it is, we want to hear it!

Our sections include Travel, Lifestyle, AV Room (Audio/Photo/Video), Entertainment, and Features. Features typically run around 1,500 words. Have more than that? Cool! If not, no worries. We’re an electronic publication so space is unlimited. We’ll accept anything from a 250 word photo spread to a 500 word interview to an hour long podcast to a 2-minute video. There’s only one rule: you must be creative.

Your work will need to be submitted no later than March 19, 2018. Send in your submission by clicking “Submit Work” on the Loco home page.
